ANR Headsets?

Hey everyone,

I've just got my Private, and I'm looking to trade-up to a good ANR headset from my Avcomm AC200. I would like to spend less than $500, but I want to get something that gives a lot of bang for the buck. Any suggestions?

I am currently looking at the Lightspeed 20XLc and the Telex Stratus 30XT

Personally, I will be moving to Clarity Aloft products. My friend is using them in his air show routine where he sings the National Anthem and the clarity (no pun intended) is fantastic. He also likes them better than his Lightspeed ANR's that he was using before.

For his show, he is transmitting through a non-aviation transmitter, but when we fly formation, his transmissions are very clear through the radio.

Flightcom has a couple good ANR headsets for around that price.

Clarity Aloft is getting a lot of buzz right now. They are very good and crisp, and are the least bulky and annoying headset on the market.

I use the Lightspeed Zulu's and Love them, and I have used them in planes from Pitts S2c's to Pilatus PC-12's and everything in between. They work awesome.

I checked out the Clarity Alofts and don't think I could fly with such a headset, Zulu's are the way forward. Other Lightspeed headsets though, I've worn a fair few and they are quite uncomfortable, just make sure you try before you buy.

Hi, I would have to say the most popular selling ANR headset over the last couple of months is the Telex Airman 850 Aviation Headset. The cheapest you are going to find that one is about $399.99. They go up in price from there. Here is one store's list of ANR aviation headsets. Hope this helps you.

OH P.S. I don't know much about the Lightspeed headsets but I have a buddy that is pretty happy with his. If I am not mistaken though, they are not cheap.

I have the Lightspeed 20 3g headset and I have been happy with it overall. I have had it for close to 5 years and have not had any trouble with it. It's not the smallest or lightest ANR headset by any means and but I don't really have a reason to get something nicer right now instructing when I'm only flying 1.5 hrs at the most each flight. When I start having longer legs I may get something different but for now it is doing its job quite well so I don't plan on upgrading any time soon.

If anyone is getting into aviation, I suggest not buying a $1000 ANR until you have some hours. Try the FlightCom or ones from DRE Communications as suggested by Rugged Air.
For information on FlightCom, I found this page on a Google search. Toronto Avionics
