Filing Flight Plans with Lockheed Martin over the phone

Hey,

I usually file my FP's with DUAT, but I was just filing a flight plan over the phone with wxbrief the other day, and it seemed like the guy was a little annoyed with me. (Maybe just a bad day, but) I was wondering: Is it best to just read right through the information nonstop, or should I break once and a while and make sure the guy's caught up with me?

Not a really important question, but just wondering how most do it...

Thanks!

I go at a flow that gives them time to type, actually alot of the time you can hear them type and know when to keep going. I however don't wait for them to que me, I just roll through it. I only file on the phone or radio and most guys are pretty friendly and helpfull, sometimes too helpfull.

I think you just got a guy that was at "work".

I read it at a pace that I could type at and that typically works.

When I get a nice and helpful guy, I always want to ask (but don't), "you must of worked for the old FSS?"

I file mostly duats since the change over.

Thanks for the tips! We'll see how it goes next time. My experience with briefers is usually good; (somehow they manage to be very cheery).

Talking with the FSS on the phone is like eating a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get!

When I worked Air Ambulance, I filed all my flight plans en route to the airport. I did everything from memory and just rattled it (slowly) all off, w/o prompts. I got to know several of the briefers and would have a good chat, too. That was before L-M took over. Now, those guys (and girls) have been scattered in the winds. I know one ended up in the DFW area.

Sorry for going off on a tangent. Anyway, I use FltPlan.com Flight Planning & Flight Tracking for General Aviation. now for all of my filing and wx briefs. If you're working on your Private License, I'd still use the phone, but, if not, you might give that website a try.
