REMINDER: TAF Aviation Weather

A reminder for our members...

TAF provides a very useful aviation weather portal for its members here. Obviously, this cannot and SHOULD NOT replace any sort of formal briefing; it is powered by The Weather Channel and NOAA and does not carry the official water of an FAA or GTE/Duats/AOPA briefing.

If you need a quick weather snapshot, though, it can prove very useful. I've assembled some helpful information for pilots who are pondering an upcoming cross-country or local and need an easy outlook/forecast tool.

Enjoy.

[a quick note] Please never use the icing potential map that I've linked on the weather page. It is garbage and will provide an unsafe icing picture. Rely on AIRMETS for icing information. I'll remove the link soon.

I never even noticed that! That's something I'll definatly use everyday for advanced breifing, then later I can follow up with a standard breif with flight service. Thanks for pointing that out!

Hey Jonathan, I never noticed that either - thanks for the heads up. If you have a smidge of space (and to encourage Americans to come visit their "upstairs neighbors"), you could add the NavCanada site, which has the Canadian stuff on it:

http://www.flightplanning.navcanada....n&TypeDoc=html

Don't know if that works directly as a link (it's my homepage in IE), but I think the www.flightplanning.navcanada.ca part is pretty easy to navigate anyway...

A couple of the NOAA links have been redirected. BTW this is a very useful feature to me, thanks.
