New to Aviation

Hello fellow aviators! My name is Andy and i just took my first flying lesson as a birthday gift for my parents. I think i have been bit by the bug and now am wanting to learn more about it. I work around off road racing communications mostly but now have ventured into the aviation aspect. Hoping to meet new people and learn a lot!

Welcome, Andy!

I'm not a pilot either but have most DEFINITELY been bitten by the bug and permanently poisoned. I hope to start flight training next year. I learn a lot hanging out around here and reading AOPA's "FLIGHT TRAINING" magazine. It has a friendly and informative writing style in addition to lots of fun ideas on what to do with your license so you never get bored. I also hitch rides with pilot friends every chance I get.

Welcome! I have just recently got my Private Pilots License 5/20/09. Once bitten by the bug you'll always have your head tilted up looking in the skys, wishing you there.

this forum is a great place for folks to openly discuss ideas- much better than some of the other aviation forums.

andy welcome to a life long obsession. check out some mags- like flight training, plane and pilot, flying even aopa mag. (you know- grab a coffee and hit the barnes and noble airplane mag. section) many good books also like flight training handbook, jeppesen training books... (others can offer more i'm sure)

to date myself- before i started flying i went to the library and checked out book after book on flying. first flight i asked my instructor- can you talk to me about VOR's. yeh, yeh-well get to that (big smile)
